We are delighted to share a remarkable story that recently appeared in De Telegraaf. Nelly van Leur, a client of Esther-Simone Visser, shared her experience of how medical contact lenses changed her life.

Nelly van Leur, a 65-year-old photographer from Cuijk, was diagnosed with lattice corneal dystrophy (LCD) at a young age. This genetic condition caused severe clouding of her corneas, causing her to slowly lose her sight. Despite ten corneal transplants, she continued to struggle with rejection of the donor corneas.

Thanks to the latest developments in scleral lenses, Nelly has been able to significantly improve her vision and quality of life. Esther-Simone Visser guided Nelly through this process. The scleral lenses offer Nelly much clearer vision and less distortion.

These lenses are a revolutionary piece of technology that do not touch the cornea but bridge it, which is particularly valuable for various corneal abnormalities and severe dry eyes. These breakthroughs illustrate the innovative work of Visser Contact Lenses and their ongoing commitment to developing specialist lenses that can improve the lives of people with eye diseases.

Nelly’s story is an inspiration to many and highlights the importance of continuous innovation and collaboration within ophthalmology. We are proud to be part of this life-changing process and will continue to strive to provide the best possible care and solutions to our clients.
