The components of an optometric exam
An optometric exam includes the following components:
- conversation about the health of your eyes
- exam of the health of your eyes
- eye measurement
- eye pressure measurement
- exam of the cooperation between the eyes and eye muscles.
After the eye exam, the optometrist determines whether any complaints can be treated directly by the optometrist or whether referral to an ophthalmologist is necessary or desirable. It is not always necessary to cover all the above aspects. An optometric partial exam is therefore often sufficient. In this case, one of the components of the complete exam is carried out.
