Welcome to Visser Contactlenzen – Contact Lens Care for International Patients

At Visser Contactlenzen, we work with a highly professional and friendly team of optometrists, contact lens specialists, and clinical assistants. We invest significant effort in the continuous training and education of our staff to maintain the high level of quality that we consider essential. We have our own training program which an optometrist has to complete before being able to fit scleral lenses.

In addition to patient care, we are actively involved in research in the field of contact lenses and scleral lenses. By contributing to scientific studies and innovation, we aim to further advance contact lens technology and improve outcomes for patients with complex visual needs. (link naar publicaties)

Step 1: Information about your eyes

Before scheduling an appointment, we kindly ask international patients to submit the following:

– A short summary of your eye condition
– Any previous surgical history and current lens specifications (if available)
– Visual acuity measurements
– Corneal topography (if available)

Once your case has been reviewed by our team, we will determine whether we can assist you and proceed with scheduling your appointment.

Step 2: Planning Your Visit

If an appointment is possible, it must be scheduled at least 4 weeks in advance to allow for consultation and lens production. Depending on your distance from the Netherlands:

– If you plan to stay locally: expect a 1-week stay for the complete fitting process.
– If you’re traveling back and forth: you will require two appointments, 3 weeks apart.

Fitting Fee:                 €287 per eye
Scleral Lenses:          €1,100 – €2800 per lens (exact price depending complexity of the lens determined during the consultation)
Initial Payment:           €600 cash after the first consultation
Final Payment:           Remainder due upon delivery

Reimbursement may be possible in your home country—ask us for a supporting document.

– Your current lenses and detailed lens specifications
– Do not wear your lenses  24 hours before your visit, but bring them with you.

Returning international patients are welcome for check-ups or re-fittings. Please inform us whether you will remain in the Netherlands for lens pickup or require lenses to be shipped internationally. If staying, we recommend planning appointments similar to the initial visit with at least 3 weeks’ notice.
